Nightwalk in Oly

Still having fun with the fisheye lens:
New mural downtown at the pier.

Popular kissing statue in downtown Olympia.
Cute piece of art that we like.

Good Night!

Capitol at Night

We often take late night walks downtown and we are very happy with what we brought home.

Backyard Fun II

Waiting for the Seahawks game to start, I grabbed the camera to see why I could find outside.
It's Jiminy!

Bouncing back after the hot August sun.
Fuzzy Wuzzy!
There is some sort of interesting bird visiting my trees.

Dogwood seeds

Squirreling Around

Some people say they are rats with fluffy tails, but I have fun watching them run around like crazy burying their seeds. Although most of their sprouted gifts have to be pulled out of the flower bed, some have been a very nice addition.

The Monroe of the rodent family makes her appearance.
Taking a break to make sure the coast is clear.
Scaled the shepherd's hook in order to steal the birds food.

Letting the seeds settle before....

the hefty hike back up the tree.

Slurp of Sapsuckers

This morning we were distracted by a slurp of Red-Breasted Sapsuckers. I had never seen this kind of woodpecker before. I'm not sure if I was more thrilled about the woodpecker or the notion that I am paying more attention to my surroundings and seeing things differently. My eye is getting stronger every day.

Red-Breasted Sapsucker

The sapsuckers not only eat bugs, but suck the sap out of trees. The holes left behind by this little guy were impressive.

He was actually pretty shy. He would climb to the back of the tree, out of our site, if we made any sort of movement.

Some sapsuckers are known to to live in Washington state all year round. But breeding sapsuckers will migrate from the West Coast of Canada to California.

The Rufous Hummingbird (not photographed YET!) is known to buddy-up with the Sapsuckers, following "the woodpecker around during the day, feeding at the wells the sapsucker keeps flowing." http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Red-breasted_Sapsucker/lifehistory

Little Ham

We are not different from many other people. Being a couple that has chosen to remain childless, we think our 4 year old niece is the cutest funniest toddler out there, just as you would feel the same about your niece. We are taking advantage of her liking to be in front of the camera, just waiting for the day the switch flips and she runs and hides.

She took direction from Uncle Shawn very well.

And finally, a shot that she didn't know was being taken.

Something's Fishy...

Our lens! Got a fish-eye lens and it's soooo much fun. So naturally....brand new lens...here's puppy pictures, and other random stuff around the house.

Fuzzy Wuzzy!

Loving the effect of the fisheye at night.

We had to buy lens cleaner after this one.

Thanks for reading my blog!
